I like ASUS and always had good luck with them, but ABIT has a really cool
front panel to go with some of their boards. It is at:

.. . . will ASUS ever do something like this?

Asus did iPanel and J-Panel.

There are some pictures of iPanel here. They botched the
interconnect between the iPanel and the motherboard,
causing problems for the customers who owned one.

J-Panel was a more modest effort. J-Panel was a disk drive tray
mounting for some audio and USB connectors. It has been discontinued
as far as I know.

So Asus has done stuff like this, but has moved on to other things.
They do the odd fancy display for some of their barebones
computer products.

Looks like ipanel is no longer an ASUS product either, at least when I did a
search for ipanel on the ASUS website, it came up with nothing.

Too bad ASUS does not consider it important because having a panel like that
for my next build tempts me to switch to ABIT.

Good luck trying to get one unless you buy a motherboard that ships with
them, like the AN8 Fatal1ty SLI. Their scarcity and Abit's refusal to
acknowledge my queries were one reason I ended up going with ASUS.

That's kinda ridiculous, considering a host of third-party
panels are available that would have given you nearly the
same functionality (except for maybe voltage info and a
switch to clear CMOS).

Example? I found some front panels that have usb ports, audio ports, at
best, but nothing that compares to the ABIT one.

Maybe Abit's got their act together. For months the Guru Panels were as
scarce as hens' teeth, even in the States. If you're ever bored check out
the Abit forums from 6ish months ago.
