Default Powerpath

Hello,

We are running EMC PowerPath 5.1 on a Solaris 5.8. We have two
storages connected to this server.

We use the disks named emcpower0c to emcpower9c, where emcpower0c to
emcpower4c is on the first storage and emcpower5c to emcpower9c is on
the second storage.

The first storage will be disconnected from the server, so the disks
emcpower5c to emcpower9c will be renamed after the server reboot to
emcpower0c to emcpower4c, right???

But all the apps are linked to emcpower5c to emcpower9c... is there
anyway to save this configuration and after the reboot the system
keep
working pointing to those devices??

Sorry the english, and thanks any help!

If more info is necessary, just ask!!

First off, use of the emcpower-- devices is not required on Solaris.
You can continue to use the typical cXtXdX devices.

No changes are made to emcpower devices unless you execute a "powermt
config" command, so you shouldn't have troubles with just a reboot.
I'm pretty sure, even then, that when removing devices the emcpower--
names will remain the same-- although, I'm not 100% on that.

But all the apps are linked to emcpower5c to emcpower9c... is there

You should be fine for a simple reboot. Moving forward, I would
switch to using the typical cXtXdX devices-- this is a best practice
with Solaris & PowerPath (unless things have changed since I last read
the docs). Second, take a look at using "Persistent Binding"; there's
a lot of information about this on powerlink in the Solaris Host
Connectivity Guide, and the HBA specific documentation (all available
on Powerlink).

HTH,
Aaron
