Default CD-RW problems

I have an Archos Mini CD-RW writer machine which I have used to
successfully format and write onto a Harmonic CD-RW disk using InCD
software. The Harmonic disk (which was actually supplied with the
Archos machine) has the following specifications: 650 MB/74 min;
1x,2x,4x; Compact Disk ReWritable; MultiRead compatible. However, I
am unable to format Datawrite CD-RW disks with the following
specifications: 700MB/80 min; 4x - 2x speed; Compact Disk Recordable.
I was told by the retailer where I purchased the Datawrite disks that
they were the same as the Harmonic disk. The Archos CD/RW machine
will not write onto the Datawrite disks.

Can anyone explain why the Datawrite disks won't work in the Archos
machine? Has anyone else encountered such apparent limitations with
Archos CD rewriting equipment?

Is this a typo, and the disc is actually labeled "4x-12x"? If so, you
can't write on that disk with a 1x-4x drive. There are two kinds of
CD-RW media, and only drives that go beyond 4x can write on both of
them; older drives that go only up to 4x can only write on 1x-4x media.
