OCZ Ultra II thermal paste recall
I got my replacement tube of Artic Silver thermal paste from OCZ
today, having sent in for replacement the tube of "fake" Ultra II thermal paste that they recalled last month. Their replacement offer isn't as generous as it seems though - the replacement tube is a "mini", less than half the size of the tube we originally purchased. That's pretty cheap of them! |

Unfortunately it looks like all the recent production was fake - OCZ outsourced to a supplier who quietly dropped the expensive silver component from later batches. OCZ is suing their supplier and offering a replacement from Arctic Silver. You can read about it and find out how to get a rebate on OCZ's web site. This was discovered initially by a curious user who wondered why OCZ's "99% pure silver" paste looked a little too silvery in color compared to all the competitors. Kudos to OCZ for their quick replacement program, but obviously their QA dept. was asleep at the wheel. |
