Small printer to print on printable CD/DVD/Blu-Ray
I would like to be able to print on these blanks, but have all my other printing needs already taken care of. Does anyone make a small footprint printer with decent label design software that does this? Thanks, -- Andrew Hall (Now reading Usenet in comp.periphs.printers...) |

If you have a volume situation, I have used the Primera Bravo II. It stacks 25 media and burns and prints each disc in the stack robitically. If low volume, a Canon or Epson may suffice but they aren't dedicated to just print CD/DVD/mini-CD, etc, media. However the price is good. Personally, for the last three years, I have been using a Epson Artisan and I am very happy with it using SureThing Disc Labeler 6. -- Dave Multi-AV Scanning Tool - http://multi-av.thespykiller.co.uk http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/35905.asp |

I have a Canon iP4950 inkjet that does a pretty good job of colour printing on printable CD/DVDs, but it is a normal A4 size printer that does disk printing as an extra - not a specialist disk printer. I think that even if you found such a specialist machine, it would come out much more expensive than a dual-purpose one like the iP4950! |

Is there a version with a small footprint? It depends on how you define small. I've been using an Epson XP-800 "small in one" for a couple of years now. Has two paper trays, rear sheet feeder and prints CD/DVD blanks. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/j...seBVCookie=yes |

Arthur http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/j...seBVCookie=yes Thanks, this is bigger than the Artisan 50, but its LAN connectivity will allow me to put it in a good location. I just ordered the new version, the XP-810. I will take a look at the software that comes with it, and if it does not do the trick order the Surething software Thanks to all, -- Andrew Hall (Now reading Usenet in comp.periphs.printers...) |

As always, I suggest buying the extended filled ink carts, in this case T273XL, and buy a complete set when you obtain the printer. The XL carts are OK, but only available from the Epson Store. Also - depending on the use and humidity, you may want to schedule a regular nozzle check. I live in an extremely dry climate and the heads are very susceptible to clogging. A cleaning cycle uses a ton of ink and doesn't always work. |
