print server - IP port - does it matter ?
We currently have a Netgear PS101 small print server
that attaches directly to the printer's parallel port. I've setup all the computers to use the IP Port assignment method for printing - and it basically works fine - One thing I was wondering, does it really matter which print server product is selected when setting up the IP port on the computer ? Don't they all basically work the same way - LPR/LPD - and if there is just one physical port, it shouldn't really matter ? -- ---------------------------------- "If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something." - Steven Wright |

Others process input to the queues differently; one queue translates linefeed to CRLF, for example. It depends on the print server. -- Warren Block * Rapid City, South Dakota * USA |
