Get yourself a cheap hi-fi amp and speakers, it might cost a bit more
but you'll thank me if you do

Aldi were doing a 5.1 setup a couple of weeks back for £24.99. Heard for the
first time round a mate's place and definitely not a bad sound for the
price. If you have one local might be wirth popping in.

Depends on what kind of card you have in your PC as to how much it's worth
spending, but your budget is quite big, so I'll assume you have decent
hardware and are looking for at least 5.1 sound for games and dvd playback.

I have a set of Creative Inspire 6700 here in a box next to me which I
bought from EBuyer for £50 delivered a month ago - saved the wife the chore
of buying me a present, but I can't open them before Chrismas day.

This 6.1 (5.1 plus rear centre channel) system is supposed to sound
fantastic with the Audigy2 card I already have - box weighs a ton too, so
they should be well put together. I think you'd probably have to spend over
£80 to get anything significantly better.

AWESOME setup IMO for a PC, the sub is BIG though and heavy so make sure you
have the space...

Thanx Tony and everyone else who replied.

Glad someone mentioned the above speakers as those were the ones I was going
to recommend! ;0)

Thanx.
