Default usb 2 external hard drive

I have a p3-450, 448MB RAM, usb 1.1 on the motherboard & recently fitted a
usb 2 (via chipset) pci card. My C drive has a capacity of 12.7GB running
Win 2000 pro with all the updates. I would like to know if I buy a usb 2
external hard drive (250 or 160 GB's) will my computer see all the drive or
will I only see part of the external hard drive?

The drive is controlled by the controller inside the enclosure; as long
as it supports the drive, the system will as well.

Ben,

Win2k will have hard drive size problems? I thought that was only a
bios not a OS problem?

I've never pushed Win 2K to the limit as far as hard drives are concerned. I
have handled Win 2K systems with 80GB drives, but nothing larger. So I have to
say I do not know for sure.

I DO know that FAT32 partitions as handled by Win 98 are limited to 32GB. Win
ME is another beast, but not worth talking about... Ben Myers

I actually bought a 250GB drive & windows recognised it.

This weekend I purchased a Hitachi 80 gig 7200 internal for $54 with a
$35 rebate... I could not pass up the transaction...

The 250's gig units were beyond my monthly computer budget...
