Budget Nvidia card?
I am looking into a DX9 compatible card (not a heavy gamer though), my budget is $50-75. I've been thinking of the FX5200, but could wait until the Fx5600 drops to my budget bracket. So Whaddya all think? |

You could look out for an FX5600XT. Folks slag it off cos its slower than
the Fx5600, but its cheaper too (maybe). "Gary Tait" wrote in message ... I am looking into a DX9 compatible card (not a heavy gamer though), my budget is $50-75. I've been thinking of the FX5200, but could wait until the Fx5600 drops to my budget bracket. So Whaddya all think? |

Noooooooooooooooo! I replaced my 5200 with a 5600XT and it was worse.
Honest. Complete rubbish. The full 5600 is OK and is dropping in price so wait for that to come down. But you can pick-up a 5200 pretty cheap right now and they're OK. If you want a decent graphics card, consider a Radeon 9600 Pro which will play any game you throw at it. Costs around £100 (also dropping in price by the week). Bobby "Temor" wrote in message ... It's considered a slowww card, but if you're not a gamer it should be fine.
The 5600 would perform notably better. -- DaveW "Gary Tait" wrote in message ... I am looking into a DX9 compatible card (not a heavy gamer though), my budget is $50-75. I've been thinking of the FX5200, but could wait until the Fx5600 drops to my budget bracket. So Whaddya all think? |

So Whaddya all think? Why do you care if its DX9 if you want to buy a $50~75 video card? Real DX9 games require horse power that the sub $150 cards cannot handle. The 5200s are about the same performance as a GF3 for DX8 games and older. Best to get at least a 5200Ultra... still slower **** than the pretty much out of stock Ti4200 ($80). A 5600 is a bit better... but you need at least a 5600Ultra to be decent... but still sub standard for actually PLAYING DX9 games. http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic...229/index.html http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic...ournament_2003 -- Remember when real men used Real computers!? When 512K of video RAM was a lot! Death to Palladium & WPA!! |
