Seagate 6TB SATA drives -- ST6000DM001 vs. ST6000DX000
I have some 6TB Seagate drives that were bought in their "retail
packaging" as STBD6000100, but the drives themselves are identified as ST6000DX000. The 6TB "bare" drives are advertised as ST6000DM001. (I don't have any to check to see how they are identified internally) Is there really any difference between them? Perce |

And I see that at http://knowledge.seagate.com/article...language=en_US the ST6000DX000 drives are listed as compatible with Seagate's own NAS and NAS Pro devices, but there is no mention of the ST6000DM001. Seagate 6TB SATA drives -- ST6000DM001 vs. ST6000DX000 --warranty period

New discovery: Although the packages of the "retail" STBD6000100 drives showed a 2-year warranty, the ones I've checked (using the ST6000DX000 model number and the serial numbers that are identified by the system to which they are attached) shows them as in warranty until July 2018 -- i.e., a 3-year warranty.
