Default useless diagnostics from manufacturers

I wanted to test an old server that actually wasn't used much.
It has some WD black 2 TB disks in it.
I put in a WD Data Lifeguard CD, and it complains that it can't find
the license file. Then tried Seagate Seatools - it set wrong video mode,
so just got scrambled pixels. Next Hitachi diagnostic, that just gave
a blank screen. When did any of these companies last update this ****?
I had gone into BIOS and changed SATA mode to IDE legacy in the hope
that was likely to suceed.
I can't find Toshiba's equivalant disk diagnostic to download any more.

You could try the HDSentinel trial.

I mostly used Seatools, as it seemed to handle other brands okay.

Anyway, I ended up using MHDD - that it least booted up and ran a scan.
Only problem with MHDD is that it doesn't do 'slave' drives, so you
have to swap cables half the time.
