TV Doesn't Close After a Recording -... and some crashing
I have the same problems sometimes. More often than not, when I try to
shutdown or reboot windows, it wont' do it if I've been watchign or recording TV. I end up having to physically turn off the power supply. I'm using an ati 9600 AIW with MMC version 8.8. Apparently 8.9 is out. My card came with 8.7 or below (can't remember) but upgrading to 8.8 didn't fix the bugs I'm experiencing and it didn't add any new features. In fact I realized that the upgrade .exe didn't include some of the programs that I use (gemstar tv guide thingy). duh! So I have to keep my damn original CD forever. That's stupid. "Henry" wrote in message ... When I have a recording scheduled via the TV listing, the TV window comes up and the recording starts. When the recording is done, the recording box goes away, but the TV stays on. I can't seem to find how to get it to turn off. Is it possible to make this happen automatically. I leave the PC on 24x7 quite often (WinXP Pro). With the TV not running in the background, I leave the PC to record a program, which records fine, but when I come back in a few hours, I get the ATIMMC.EXE has to be shut down message. It seems that error occurs some time after recording is complete. When I'm at the PC, I can confirm that I can get a recording to occur, and stop, leaving the TV on, and without the ATIMMC error message. Maybe somehow the error just occurs at random?? BTW, screen saver is OFF. Any Ideas?? ATI 9600 Pro MMC 8.8 Pentium 4, 3GHz, 512 RAM, 100G+ of HD space free. Henry Posted Using Agent 1.91 [to reply, delete the AT] ****************************** |

After doing a good bit of newsgroup/BB messages, I'm finding that there are quite a few things that you need to know that the manual doesn't tell you. ---Keep screen saver off (not sure, but trying to keep things simple till I understand the problems better) ---Unless you do all your recording scheduling through the scheduler in Setup, you don't get the opportunity to tell it to close the program when the recording is done. If you set the recording from the Guide+, all you get to pick is the recording quality. To get these schedulings to close after completion, you need to go to the TV | setup | scheduling, select the event and modify it. ---I make sure nothing else that would use a codec is running when a recording is scheduled to run (e.g. no PowerDVD, no Mediaplayer, etc.) So far, with this setup, I've not had any of the ATIMMC.EXE type of crashes - fingers crossed. Mine came with MMC 8.6 (got it in mid-December). I upgraded to MMC 8.8 and Catalyst 4.10 drivers shortly after they came out, by running the Uninstall program that ATI has on their web site, and then doing the install. After that was done, I reinstalled v2.2 of the Remote Wonder program, and the Gemstar that came on the original CD. ATI's support site on the Web is very user unfriendly. The graphics card bulletin boards are FAR better when it comes to finding solutions. Henry Posted Using Agent 2.0 [to reply, delete the AT] ****************************** |
