Vista will have to be released first before that can happen, if it does
happen. I wouldn't expect to see Vista released for consumers before late
Spring of 2007, regardless of any information to the contrary today. The
release date has been pushed back three times so far and I would not be
surprised to see it delayed yet again before Christmas. I wouldn't buy a
copy until the first Service Pack release for it anyway.

Actually, I believe they'll be shipping the coupons before Vista is actually
released. They're winding up their marketing machine now, planning their
launch parties for Office, Vista, etc. It may not be launched in 2006, but
I doubt it would be as late as Spring.

I'd feel better if they gave you an XP coupon with each Vista system.

Does this mean most people are too stupid to insert a CD/DVD and click

No, I think it means that if you are upgrading at least I know from XP
you have to have a system that can take Vista. My system will take
Vista but I need too many upgraded drivers.

I wouldn't say stupid...I would say not properly trained. Anyone doing
an upgrade install of Vista from XP...or any other operating system
upgrade is looking for trouble, IMO.

O/S installation should always be done as clean installs and that can
take some time and effort especially finding the right drivers, etc.

Either stick with XP or get someone who know's what they're doing to
handle the upgrade.

Keith,
Make sure that you other hardware such as printers, scanners, cameras, etc...,
will be capable with Vista. Many people ran into problems when, XP first came
out. And these manufacturers, had yet designed, or even were planning to design
drivers, for their products to work with XP. A lot of new hardware had to be
purchase by alot of people.
