Sony SDM X82B from Digi Uk - Anyone else had a problem?
Hi,
Bought 2 of these refurbished 18" tfts from Digi last week, one for me and one for a friend, friend took his home on Monday and rang Monday night saying it had died after about 30 mins use, nasty patterns on the screen followed by a large (1" x 1/2") blue patch in the centre of the screen, he rang Sony on Tuesday morning and they told him it was a cosmetic fault" and not covered by warranty!. I then rang Digi who collected it this morning and will issue a refund after it has been tested (no replacement stock). And now the good news!, having been busy re-decorating over the last few days I finally got to put my system back together tonight and try mine, yes you've guessed it, it ran perfectly for about 30 to 45 mins and I've now got a very nasty looking interference pattern on the display, it's a rapidly scanning series of horizontal lines, changing resolutions or refresh rates etc. doesn't cure it, just makes it look different!. So, anyone else bought one of these and had a problem or am I just extremely unlucky???? ) Kind Regards, Jeff Davison Display Systems Consultants UK |

LMAO, I suppose they are right, a big blue patch is only cosmetic, I wonder how far you have to go before its a fault? The thing sprouting legs, running over and tring to strangle you with its DVI cable? :-) -- This post does not reflect the opinions of all saggy cloth cats be they a bit loose at the seams or not GSX600F - Matilda the (now) two eared teapot, complete with white gaffer tape, though no rectal chainsaw |

Hi Jeff,
If you were to call Digi-UK to discuss the problem, then a full refund would have been offered and the goods collected back at our expense. Sony will only pick up the warranty after 28 days of use, so please call us and we will sort it out for you. Unfortunately we do not have any more stock at the moment of the 18" otherwise we would also offer a replacement. So give us a call and we will sort it out for you, we always aim to please. writes Hi Jeff, If you were to call Digi-UK to discuss the problem, then a full refund would have been offered and the goods collected back at our expense. Exactly what I did do, as detailed in my original post which you quoted ) "display.systems" wrote in message ... No problems at all with Digi's service in this matter, Sony were contacted by my friend who doesn't know any better ) Shame really, I was very impressed with it when it worked and the space saving over my 21" FST monitor was just what I was looking for. Next option is an LG at about £450 but I can't justify that just to save space ( I know there is a cheaper Iiyama at about £415 but I bought one for a client and wasn't impressed with the picture quality at all.
