Default Nero and bootable cd's?

Hi all,

I just got a burner and installed Nero 7 Essentails.
I need to create a bootable cd but haven't figured
out how to do that. I've been all through the
software and don't see any choices for making a
bootable cd. What am I missing or should I get
a different program for this?

thanks,
charles...

It's in 'create a data disc' or should be. If you have both dvd and cd
options open you may need to look for the slider to move the page over
so you can see the rest.

First, what does the link above have to do with my problem?

I fired up Nero and clicked on make data cd. It jumped to
the screen that says ADD and REMOVE on the right side.
The advanced is turned on and it shows:
Options
copy audio cd tracks
erase disc
disc info
create covers and labels

Nothing about making a bootable cd.

anything else?
charles......

Nothing, it's my signature :O) (just ignore it)

Do you not use startsmart? On my machine there are six main options
for CD,
favourites - data - audio - photo & video - backup - extras

when I look under data the option to make a bootable cd is fourth
down, under make data cd - make audio and data cd - copy cd - then
it's make bootable cd.

I then fired up nero directly to see if I could find bootable there
and I am hoping this is right. when you go to 'new' and the box opens
there should be a panel on the left, scrolling down brings up 'cd rom
(boot)' which I am hoping is what you're looking for.

good luck

Charles, on nero website there is a downloadable help file covering
making a bootable cd. It comes in a zip file so I'll post you a link
and you can have a look yourself

I am using an OEM version. Would this make a difference?
I use the icon that was put into the quick launch bar in the lower left.
Under data cd it has make data cd and copy data cd. Nothing
about making boot cd's anywhere.

I did download the latest upgrade 7.2.3.32b or somthing like that.
Might this add the bootable capabilities or am I stuck paying money
for something that should be there?

thanks,
charles.....

My version of Nero does NOT show the same/as many choices
as the documentation.

I have a feeling your version is slightly less capable than mine. On
mine there is an icon on the desktop which says nero startsmart. I am
wondering if you look under
start/programs/nero 7 if you can see anything like nero express or
startsmart? If you can try clicking that and see if it gives you more
options.

Damn, It seems you have a very trunkated version. I'm not familiar
with this, I was kind of hoping someone else would jump in and help us
out... but from what i can see from a web search you should have

Nero Home (Essentials SE)
Nero Scout
Nero Start Smart 3 (Essentials)
Nero Express 7 (Essentials)
Nero Vision 4 (Essentials SE)
Nero ShowTime 2 (Essentials)
Nero Media Home (Essentials)
InCD 5 (Essentials)
Nero PhotShow Express 4
Nero PhotoSnap (Essentials SE)
Nero PhotoSnap Viewer (Essentials)
Nero Cover Designer 2 (Essentials)
Nero ToolKit

so hopefully if you can find either nero startsmart or nero express in
your programs you might be able to find the option. I have my fingers
crossed for you.

I am afriend I have a "Demo" version which does upgrade to the
latest download but doesn't have all the functionality of Premium.
I bought it from what I thought was a reputable software supplier
but in this case it does not do what I need. I found MagicISO
on the Internet and it is free. I am trying to make a bootable cd
with Ghost 2003 on it for a laptop redo. I have the ghost images
to reinstall and I just had to put in a new 80G drive in the laptop.
I don't think Nero in its' present state will work successfully.

thanks again,
charles.....
