Default cpu overheat

my athlon xp 2600+ cpu cooling fan was stop workin one day so i
replaced it with the new one. machine start up cooling fan working
again but the computer did not boot up, no signal. so i suspected the
cpu is dead. because the cpu was overheated, will it affect all other
components such as MB, Ram, HD, Video......etc? right now the cpu
cooling is workin, does it mean the mb is okay? if it is then the
onboard video, snd, Lan & ram should be okay right?
my mb is ms-6390 fsb is 266
is this cpu "AMD ATHLON XP 2600+ PROCESSOR SOCKETA BARTON 1.9GHZ 512K
L2 CACHE 130NM 333FSB" work on ms-6390?
thanks
