Default Trouble with Intel 850MD motherboard

I am running WIN/XP on an intel P-4 with an intel 850md motherboard
with 512megs of RAM. I connected a USB flash drive, which worked
flawlessly, but when I removed it, the system locked up. When I now
boot, nothing happens. The system powers up but I get no response on
the screen. I have tried removing all pci cards, setting the bios
switch to configure, and recover. Does anyone have any ideas, other
than replacement?
