Big Problem with ECS K7S5A

I got a big Problem with my PC:

K7S5A Rev. 3 with honeyX Bios vom 11.8.03
AMD XP 1700+
2x256 MB Infineon @ Apacer SD-RAM
AOpen GeForce 4 GF-4200-DV-64 (once: Elsa Gladiac 516, GF 2 Ti)

I wanted to get the GF2 passively cooled, so I tried to underclock it
via the Coolbits Registry patch. It didn't work so I rebooted while
pressing the Ctrl-Key like it is described in the nVidia Manual.

This did not only bring the Graphics Board back to Standard settings,
it also deleted my BIOS. Luckyly I've got an EEPROM-Flasher at home so
I could get the BIOS back on the Chip.

But now, after installing the GeForce 4 instead of Geforce 2, the
Problem apperes again. With GF2 installed again, it does not work,
too. After switching on, the IDE LED and the LEDs in DVD-ROM and
USB-Cardreader lit up. Then they get dark again. There is no beep and
no Graphics Signal.

I tried to Flash the BIOS chip again, but although flashing works
properly, the PC doesn't start to work any more.

Who has any ideas for solving this Problem?

Hallo NG,

ich bin grade sehr ratlos mit folgendem System:

K7S5A Rev. 3 mit honeyX Bios vom 11.8.03
AMD XP 1700+
2x256 MB Infineon @ Apacer SD-RAM
AOpen GeForce 4 GF-4200-DV-64 (vormals: Elsa Gladiac 516, GF 2 Ti)

Um eventuell bei der GF2 Ti auf Passivkuehlung umsteigen zu können,
testete ich, wie weit ich diese mit dem Coolbits-Patch über den
Anzeige-Dialog untertakten kann. Irgendwann verschwand dann das
Monitorbild und ich startete wie im nVidia-Dialog als Hinweis gezeigt
mit
gedrückter Strg-Taste neu.

Diese Aktion löschte allerdings scheinbar nicht nur den Speicher der
GraKa, sondern auch den des BIOS. Der PC tat nach dem Einschalten
nichts,
kein Piep, kein Grafiksignal. Alle IDE- und USB-Geraete leuchteten,
beendeten dies aber nacheinander wieder (erst DVD und Brenner, dann
der
USB-Cardreader, schließlich die HD). Das Einsetzen eines anderen
BIOSchip
mit älterem BIOS behob das Problem.

Ein Test des fehlerhaften Chip brachte nur 00 als Inhalt zu Tage. Der
Chip
wurde wieder auf das honeyX-BIOS geflasht und eingesetzt. Er lief auch
gut, bis die GF2 gegen die GF4 getauscht wurde. Danach traten die
selben
Symptome auf, die sich diesmal jedoch durch einen einfachen CMOS-Reset
per
Jumper beheben ließen. Danach war der PC kurze Zeit richtig aus
(Netzteil
stromlos) worauf er nun wieder nicht startet, aber auch der
CMOS-Jumper
bringt keine Besserung.

Der 2. BIOSchip, inzwischen auch mit honeyX0811, zeigt gleiches
Verhalten.

Worauf deutet das hin? Wer hat Lösungsvorschläge? [nach jedem mal
Stromlos
machen neu flashen wäre sicher eine Idee, aber doch etwas aufwändig]

try changing the display card... also try booting without the display
card see if u get the required error beeps.. basically check n c if
its the mobo thats broke or jst the video sub system
