Separating HS&F from CPU ...
What might be the slickest/easiest way to separate a heatsink from a CPU?
the last time I tried to pull up on one, the proc came out of the socket and the 'arm/lever' was still in the locked positions. Luckily none of the pins were bent or scrapped to much that it would not work ... everything was fine but I do not want to go thru this again, especially w/ a CPU that is rather difficult to find w/ the specs I want, you could say ... Thanks to anyone yet again, Sniper NY (No, not the city) .. -- __________________________________________________ _____ There is no right or wrong, just the consequences of your actions ... |

Been there. Try removing it by twisting it back and forth before and as you pull on it. And do it when it's hot. Just after shutdown. -- Want the ultimate in free OTA SD/HDTV Recorder? http://mythtv.org My Tivo Experience http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/tivo.htm Tivo HD/S3 compared http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/mythtivo.htm AMD cpu help http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/cpu.php |
