Default A7N8X Deluxe what's the problem?

Just about to purchase and upgrade pc with A7N8X Deluxe rev 2 board, 2800
Barton and 2x 512 Crucial.
However keep seeing reference to bios probs with this board...especially in
connection with memory.
Anyone got advice about this, acceptable memory sticks etc.
Thanks.

Good to hear that. Did you have ANY probs with the board/bios when setting
up?
Thanks

I have just got that board and have 2x512Mb of Crucial and an
XP2800(Barton).
512 in slot1, 512 in slot 3.
Have not had any problems at all regarding ram.

None.
The only thing is that if you ever take out the cpu for any reason and put
it back in then you get an on screen message about cpu may have been
changed.
The setting defaults to 100MHz, reset it to 166MHZ,reboot and no problems.

Just did a similar build with Kingston PC3200 2x512 and Maxtor 2x120MB SATA
drives in RAID1 config. Only problem I had was the need to have a floppy
ready to install the SATA drivers, otherwise, clean install and no problems
since last weekend. I'm happy with it so far, I got the wireless card and
now have better coverage throughout the house than the LinkSys wireless
router it replaced.

The smaller SATA cables = better air flow through the case and overall,
easier to keep inside wiring neat. I cannot speak directly to the
performance issues.

I don't see any gain/reason to have SATA drives other than smaller cables.
Where's the gain if someone will never have more than 4 drives(2 HD, 2
optical).
More drives = more heat.
SATA drives are no faster than PATA ones for 120G upwards.
Maxtor SATA dives are no faster than the ATA version.

Can't get any better airflow than mine as my IDE cables are round and all
behind the drives (between the back of them and the backplate) as my case
has cross mounted drive cage.
So all cables are out of airflow.
