Moving a security-dongle from one computer to another
Can someone help me out here? I'm trying to replace an old computer
that is acting as a server. The software that the network is running requires a dongle on the parallel port of the server. I do not have any drivers for the dongle; however, everything is currently functioning correctly so if the dongle does require any drivers, they are already properly installed. I have tried installing the software to another computer and moving the dongle over, but the program cannot find it. The program runs in DOS and all of the computers are running Windows ME. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

I've had dongle woes with early windows software (would run under win32s on 3.11). Solved in the end by playing with the parallel port settings in the BIOS - try "output only", then the other options. -- Chris ----- Spamtrap in force: to email replace 127.0.0.1 with blueyonder.co.uk |

Any other ideas? Here's some more info on the older computer: E-Machines 433i (It's either a celeron or AMD processor @ 433mHz) Windows ME Operating System The software I'm trying to run operates in DOS. The dongle is inserted into the Parallel Port under the SPP setting in bios. New Computer Specs: AMD Duron 1.6gHz CPU Windows ME Operating System Bios Setting for Parallel Port: SPP |
