Default anybody know how to keep aspect ratio?

I figured out how to keep the aspect ratio on 1280X960 and 1280X786, but I
can't figure out how to do it on lower resolutions. FWIW, my monitor is a
17 inch LCD with a 5:4 aspect ratio, 1280X1024 pixels.
