Fujitsu and IBM/Hitachi hard disks - power consumption
hi,
While replacing the hard disk on my friend's laptop the other day, I noticed that his Fujitsu drive states its current consumption as 0.55A while my IBM/Hitachi is 1.0A. I recently upgraded to a 5400rpm Seagate Momentus which takes 1.2A, and i sure seem to have lost some battery life! My question is, do Hitachi drives really take up 1A, or is that possibly just on spinup? I'm looking to lengthen my battery life and if it means swapping to a fujitsu drive I just might do that. I don't really notice that much difference between 5400rpm and 4200rpm... then again i have a bad memory. Is there a comparison out there between Fujitsu and Hitachi drives? I'm really only interested in a 20 or 30GB drive. are fujitsu drives silent? thanks! -- |
