New hard drive setup
Thanks to HH and his FAQ posts. It convinced me to not try a Gigabyte BIOS
upgrade to my Presario 5460 to allow use of a new 80GB drive. I did have to get a bigger power supply than the puny 95watt one which came with the machine. I did go with an added PCI EIDE card and the install went well. Thank you for setting me on the straight and narrow before making a big mistake. Bernie Carlton |

Glad to help. Reading the FAQ is something everyone should do, but many do not Shame on me for wanting some of the credit--I was the one who suggested you expand on that subject and advise folks on the significant risk they took in BIOS flashes, particularly non-Compaq ones. Glad to see that combined we may have well save at least one user from a dead PC. Thanks, Dale |
