Default New Video card for s6500nx

Just purshased a new video card online for the Compaq presario s6500nx my
wife bought. (Saphire ATI 9600xt 256 MB)

Got a question...

When I install this card, do I have to disable the onboard video first or is
it automatically disabled?

If I have to disable the onboard video, how do I do it? Do I have to get rid
of the driver for the onboard video?

Installing the new AGP card will auto-disable the onboard S3 video.

Typically, you would do this (assuming Windows XP):

1) Go to your video setting and change the Video Adapter to Standard VGA.
2) Reboot (Windows will probably come up in 640x480 resolution)
3) Install the drivers for your new card (either from the CD or
download the latest from www.ati.com
4) Shut down the system and install your new video card
5) Power up the PC and let windows find your new card and install the
drivers.

That sequence has always served me well when changing video cards. You
can probably combine a few steps (Like 1 & 3, ignoring 2), but this is
pretty foolproof.
