Default Video Card. Maybe OT.

I was given an ATI X800 Pro card yesterday with no cooler so I fitted a
ThermalTake cooler I had here that would cool it enough to do tests

with.
The card seems to work like a dream with the exception that it also
displays
artifacts.
Thinking some kid may have tried to flash it and failed a bit, I flashed
it
to standard but it said that it already had the standard X800 Pro bios.
Nothing changed so I ruled out a bad flash. Generic drivers or the

latest
drivers make no difference the same as XP Pro or Vista makes no

difference
to the artifacts. I set it to run a screensaver when I went to bed last
night and it was still running the screensaver plus artifacts this

morning
when I got up.
Anybody have any ideas or is the cards next resting place the rubbish

bin?

artifacts
either overheating
duff ram
or maybe even lack of power
user might have added third party cooler and wanted to keep it and binned
the orignal

I would have to go with the dodgy ram idea. I have a 9800 Pro that works
well in the computer I was trying to get this card going in so I would think
power is not a problem. It is possible that the original owner may have
cooked it.
