Default Aspire 3003WLMi memory upgrade via DDR PC3200

Is it possible to expand the memory of an Aspire 3003WLMi with two SO-DIMM
1GB Memory Module DDR PC3200 400 MHz (instead of the common PC2700 or
below), obviously 2,5V?

Thanks in advance for your reply

Hi!

If the only difference in the memory is the speed (PC3200 vs. 2700), and the
new part's speed rating is higher, yes. It will work fine. You may not see a
speed increase, especially if you keep some of the old memory installed, as
everything will run at the speed of the slowest module installed.

You should use good quality memory from a reputable vendor. Sometimes you
can get away with cheap memory, but it isn't worth the hassle if anything
goes wrong.

first of all thank you very much for your answer.
I guessed that, actually, but I heard also that in the SO-DIMM world there
is something different than the DIMM world... I don't know why, but someone
experienced BSOD replacing PC2700 with PC3200.

In the meantime Acer tech support answered that there's INcompatibilty
between SO-DIMM DDR333 and DDR400! So I think it's better to buy DDR333
instead of DDR400 (although cheaper!). I'm not searching for speed, I'm just
searching for stability, no-swap and memory to allow other O.S.

Thank you once more again.
