Help! Can't burn audio cds anymore.
Well I've wasted enough cds on this problem. On my Windows Vista
laptop I can no longer make an audio cd. I was able to do this about 3 weeks ago. I don't have a problem with data cd's or dvd's, just audio cd's that will play anywhere. I've tried different makes of cd's, I've used WMP & Roxio EMC 10, and I've tried burning at different speeds and I get the same result. I always get the very generic error message that files can't be written to the disk but nothing on the reason why. If I can make a data disks why not audio? I'm using a Toshiba laptop and whatever CD/DVD burner it came with. I'm not home at the moment so I can't elaborate but that all seems irrelevant at this point anyway. Does anyone have any ideas on this? I've got a few more cd's I can waste. |

I had similar problem with audio and the cause was the CD-R media sensor in the DVD writer. It would recognize DVD media and intermittently sense CD-R media. I could read data CDs but couldn't write audio CDs. The media sensor determines the media type by sensing frequency. It is possible to write/read DVDs and still have problems with the CDs. Luckily my PC was still in warranty and got a DVD writer replacement. Hope this helps, Otoe |
