No Bios.No boot. There's a couple places you can order new chips. But,you'll
have to ask Supermicro what chips you'll need. "Nicolas Noiseux" wrote in message ink.net... I received some motherboards without bios chips on them. Are they dead without them? Which bios chip is used in a supermicro p4dl6 mb? Which bios chip is used in a supermicro p4dp6 mb? Thanks in advance. |

put finger to keyboard and composed: I received some motherboards without bios chips on them. Are they dead without them? Which bios chip is used in a supermicro p4dl6 mb? Which bios chip is used in a supermicro p4dp6 mb? Thanks in advance. Measure the voltage at the corner pin. It should be either +5V or 3.3V. The following pages suggest that the BIOS chip is a 4Mbit Flash EEPROM: http://www.supermicro.com/products/m...C-LE/P4DL6.cfm http://www.supermicro.com/products/m...7500/P4DP6.cfm Once you have the voltage, capacity and package style, then it shouldn't be too hard to find a compatible part. For example, the flash utility, phlash.exe, has a list of supported parts which can be displayed by typing ... phlash /dev Look for those chips with a "part size" of 512. These are what I managed to find: L I S T O F S U P P O R T E D F L A S H D E V I C E S MfgID PartID Algorithm Part Size Part Name ----- ------ --------- --------- ------------------- 01h 77h 10 512 AMD 29F004BXT 01h 23h 15 512 AMD 29F400 01h d6h 15 512 AMD 29F800 01h b5h 2 512 AMD 29LV004 01h 4fh 2 512 AMD 29LV040B 01h a4h 2 512 AMD/TI-TMS 29F040 37h 86h 2 512 AMIC A29040 1fh a4h 8 512 ATMEL 29C040A 1fh c4h 8 512 ATMEL 29LV040A 1fh 13h 13 512 ATMEL 49F040 1fh 12h 13 512 ATMEL 49F040T adh 40h 2 512 BMI BM29F040 dch 04h 2 512 BMI BM29FS040 7fh 7fh 2 512 EoN EN29F040 04h a4h 2 512 Fujitsu MBM29F040C 04h 23h 15 512 Fujitsu MBM29F400T adh a4h 2 512 HYUNDAI HY29F040AC 89h d4h 4 512 Intel 28F004 B3 89h 79h 4 512 Intel 28F004 BX-B 89h 78h 4 512 Intel 28F004 BX-T 89h 64h 16 512 Intel 28F400 B3 89h 71h 4 512 Intel 28F400 BX-B 89h 70h 21 512 Intel 28F400 BX-T 89h 9ch 4 512 Intel 28F800 B5 89h adh 4 512 Intel FWH4 40h 03h 22 512 Mosel V29C51004T c2h 45h 2 512 MX 29F004 c2h a4h 2 512 MX 29F040 20h e2h 2 512 SGS M29F040B 20h d5h 9 512 SGS M29F400T bfh 04h 19 512 SST 28LF040 bfh 04h 6 512 SST 28SF040/28VF040A bfh 77h 20 512 SST 39SF040P bfh d7h 13 512 SST 39VF040 bfh 58h 20 512 SST 49LF004 bfh 60h 20 512 SST 49LF004A 40h 03h 22 512 Syncmos F29C51004T dah 46h 8 512 Winbond W29C040 - Franc Zabkar -- Please remove one 'i' from my address when replying by email. |
