Default Six Core i7?

Does Dell sell any XPS unit with a six core i7 processor? To my surprise
the XPS 8500 appears to be limited to four cores.

Hi W,

Currently, Dell XPS 8500 Desktops are available with 3rd Generation
Intel Core™ i7-3770 processors that are quad core with 8MB Intel
Smart Cache.

The XPS 9300 was offered with a i7 Extreme Edition processor with 6 physical
cores , 12 cores with hyperthreading.

I have one of them.

Yeah but Dell seems to be limiting their computer choices and customization
options now.

Maybe thermal and/or power supply issues with the 6-core CPUs and the
high-end graphics cards that frequently go with it?

I think the issue is that Dell has stopped marketing high performance PC's
themselves and is relying on Alienware to fill those needs.
I believe you can still get the new 6-core I7 processers in an Alienware
system.
