Default E1245 and Vista drivers

Where do I get them? Tried a couple of times to upgrade to Vista Home Basic
but none of the on-board devices is recognised. I tried downloading the Via
drivers from ViaArena but this had no effect. Everything slows to a crawl
while it tries (unsuccessfully) to find drivers.

Has anyone succeeded in putting Vista on an E1245 Notebook?

Ian, You should have run the Vista Upgrade Advisor *BEFORE* you attempted to
install the Vista OS on the Notebook.
Even with a top of the line lap top (I have an IBM) it found many things
were not compatible.

Hopefully you can un-install and get back to where you were before all the
Vista woes.

Yeah did that and it said Home Basic would work! Luckily, I took an image of
the disk *before* I tried the upgrade (using Acronis True Image 9)

Still want to put Vista on it though.

Save yourself even more grief and aggravation. Stick with XP for a while, until
Vista SP1, more compatible applications and more drivers are available. Vista
Home Basic offers very little, if any, improvement over XP SP2... Ben Myers

To put it another way, Vista Home Basic is not Windows Home improvement.

Windows Vista Home Premium is one of the many Os's that I use and the
most recent addition as it was free .
Norton Ghost has no Vista compatible version yet.
Nero 7.8 Vista compatible fails.
No full backup is included just file backup.(I of course use raid)
Colors are pretty.( I like crayola better)
Requires a loan for memory.
ReadyBoost is nice.
No recovery of Old Os if upgrading.(I of course use multiple boot)
Search is outstanding
Hack activation is simple just go to BestBuy or similar and copy
number off of display unit.(not recommended)
General thought-Either go with Bill or fall down the hill
