tip: tray wont open - CyberDrv CW058D CD-R/RW

It is a known problem that the tray won't open with the CyberDrv CW058D
CD-R/RW which comes on certain Compaq models such as mine. It worked fine
for over a year, and this problem only appeared recently. There is no known
solution. However I have found a workaround...

--Insert a paperclip in the hole to open the tray.
--Put a blank CD in the tray.
--Close tray.
--Windows Explorer, rightclick the CD drive, AutoPlay tab, select Blank CD
from the dropdown list, click the Select an action to perform: radio button,
select Take no action, then click OK.
--Leave the blank CD in the tray when not in use.
--Then it opens OK.

I would post this on the various forums where it is mentioned, but they all
require logins and I'm not going to the trouble to register as a member. But
presumably google will suck this NG post into their system then people can
find it with searches in the future.
