Printer problem or application problem?
I use an HP Deskjet 5550. My favorite word processing application is Word
Perfect (I use WP Office 2002 Professional with the latest service pack.) I am unable to format an envelope size 6 3/4. I get a message saying the printer does not support that size, and do I want to use the nearest close approximate (DL), That is an acceptable but not convenient alternative. However, using Microsoft Word, I am able to format and print size 6 3/4 envelopes without difficulty. I have had extensive conversations on a Corel users forum about this, but nobody seems to come up with a solution. Is this a problem with the printer, or is this a problem with Word Perfect? |

It's a problem with that particular edition of WordPerfect. WP 2002 seems to have all sorts of problems with printers and not just your particular model. With my system running Win 98se, 512Mb RAM, HP-Mp printer and WordPerfect 2002, most of the time, but not always, when I try to print a merge document, the printer hangs until I shut down the merge document and shut down WordPerfect. Then the silly thing prints. If I just try to shut down WordPerfect withour first exiting out of the merge document, my system hangs. Then I have to do the Ctrl/Alt/Delete dance to kill WP. I do believe that there is a cure for your particular problem though. I think WP has issued a patch to fix your envelope problem. The patch is supposed to be somewhere on their FTP sire. Hope this helps some. Frank |

Thank you, Frank. I've tried to find something on the Corel website, but
I'll take another look. I agree it must be with WP 2002. I used WP7 for years and never had this problem. It does not appear to be specific to any particular printer--I've had it with three different HP printers. wrote in message ... Gordon...... format using a #10 envelope instead and do your setup so the return address end goes in first.
