Default LaserJet 8150 much louder than the 5si it replaced

I had a LaserJet 5si in a home office, and recently replaced it with
an 8150. When the 5si hadn't been used for a while, it would go into a
low power mode and was basically completely quiet until it got a print
job. The 8150 has two powersave levels, but doesn't ever seem to get
to that 'quiet' mode, and always has fans on.

Does anyone know if this is normal behavior for this printer? Or do I
have something set up wrong?

It is not normal behaviour. If you go to the Configuration menu, make sure that
power save is not turned off by scrolling through the menu. POWERSAVE=OFF will
cause this problem, set to POWERSAVE=15 or POWERSAVE TIME=15 (depends on the
model). There are other options between 15 minutes and 3 hours. After the time
you set has elapsed all of the fans should turn off provided the fuser has
cooled down so sometimes 15 minutes may stretch out a bit. The printer will
burst into life in the mode of it gets a print job.
