Adding text overlay to video camera signal
I want to be able to add some text overlay data (such as time/date, and a
few other items) to a video camera signal, and send the combined signal back out to a video recorder or video monitor. As an extra, I'd like to be able to digitally record the video stream at the same time. As far as I can see, this means using a pc with a graphics card that has s-video in and out, along with some software to add the overlay data. I am quite happy writing higher-level software myself (e.g., to generate the overlay data), but I don't want to have to work on the low-level interfaces (video capture, or mixing the overlay and the original video stream). I'm okay with either linux or windows. Does anyone have any recommendations for appropriate video cards or ready-made software, or links to useful webpages? TIA, David "I love deadlines.
