Default How do I identify my Compaq ?

I can't boot up my system ( I keep getting a 1790 error). I think I need
to re-install the bios but I'm not sure which one to download.
I have a EN series with a Maxtor 6.4 gig hd and a PII 450.
Any help? thanks

1790 is a hard disk failure, re-flashing the bios most likely won't help.

I have a Deskpro EN series too.
The previous owner has cleaned the whole Harddisk.
I have copied the C: + D: partitions of an older computer to this drive
with DriveImage.
But it doesn“t boot from the HDD. When i“m booting from floppy, i only see
the C: partition.
"fdisk /mbr" doesn“t help.

I“m missing the first partition
Do i need it?
Is it a part of the BIOS or only a Diagnostics Partition?

Is that partition set as 'active' when You run fdisk?
