I'd like to get a cheap Pentium M Dothan or Banias to assemble an HTPC.. which motherboard for Socket478 ones?
On eBay there are some sellers that have Pentium M Dothan and Banias core Centrino CPUs but they are
Socket478 packaging and not Socket479.. so the ASUS CT-479 to Socket478 adapter is not an option... And standard 865PE motherboard dont' support Pentium M on Socket478, right ? So, does anyone know why the ASUS adapter just doesn't include support for Pentium M Socket478 packaging ? Why ASUS doesn't release an adapter to use P-M 478 on the same supported motherboard for CT-479 ? I'd surely prefer to have a Pentium M than a cheap Celeron that's still Prescott core based on my HTPC, but since all cheap Pentium M on eBay are Socket478 ones the ASUS CT-479 it's not even an option .. This HTPC it's going to be my 4th PC and it's going to be connected on the LAN thru a Netgear router in my apartment, so I just need it to be quite and as much cold as possible... |
