Default PCI cards in PCI-X slots

is it possible to stick a PCI card into a 64-bit PCI-X slot...? i heard
it was as long as the card is 3.3V compatible.

i'd be interested in putting a sound blaster audigy2 platinum into the
tyan S2895 when it arrives, unfortunately i'm not sure on the sound
blaster's voltage specs... that tyan mobo actually has a PCI slot but
its in an aweful place between the 2 graphics cards.

one more thing i also heard that running a 33MHz PCI card in a PCI-X
slot like this would downgrade the performance of other slots... is this
true or myth...? i know the PCI-X slots are on independent buses so
wouldn't have thought it would matter.

any info apprec.
chers.

This is correct, by rule.

True. The bus is ruled by the least capable connected agent.

Again, *the bus* is ruled by the least capable connected agent.

What you do to one bus should not have any affect on a different bus.
