I notice high-end soundbars now offer internet. Can someone offer an
insight into how that would be worth the extra money, and how used? MrT |

Being wireless or having wifi access does not make the device an IoT. Could be it is an IoT device and maybe works with Google Home to allow handsfree control of that and other devices in your home ("Ok Google, play some music on the living room speaker") . The product description of they as-yet-to-be-identified probably tells you why the device is wireless, wifi, or has some Internet connectivity. They cannot incur draw to a device features by keeping them hidden. |

MrT https://www.digitaltrends.com/sound-...-atmos-review/ https://www.samsung.com/us/support/o...-atmos-hw-k950 http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co..._ZA_161227.pdf "you can use the following music sources with the Samsung multiroom app. - music files stored in your mobile phone, various music sources, and Internet radio" Since the firmware file for the thing is 180MB, it must be running a full OS of some sort in there (a minimal Linux). Page 30 of the manual, shows a picture of the user, using their SmartPhone to channel something to the soundbar. So that it's not limited to just the HDMI input perhaps (audio over HDMI). The documentation is pretty thin. Once "an App drives it", these companies seem to be absolved from providing any further description. Like the product you're buying is a "loot box". Paul |
