Default Dell PCs on Ebay - true deals or what ?

Hi all,

I've been looking at purchasing an 8300 Dimension Desktop and have found
dozens of them on Ebay "IN Factory Sealed NEW box" - many of the advertisers
promise they are not refurbished, brand new. Some of these sellers have over
1,000 positive feedbacks. The price for what I want is about $ 1,400 at
Dell, and from the Ebay sellers, about $750 - 900. Any idea where this stuff
comes from, and how these people get this equipment for almost half a grand
less than the manufacturer sells them for? I have to believe these sales are
legit, after checking tons of + feedback.

The only downside from the Ebay purchases is that these people don't take
real credit cards, and insist all sales are final. There is, however, no
sales tax and delivery charges average $ 60.00.

Thanks for listening, and please give me some advice if you have it!

of course you have to be convinced that the particular seller is legitimate,
but there is certainly a market for new computers on ebay when purchased
from dell during exceptional promotion periods. for example, the weekend of
1st/2nd i purchased a dell dimension 2400 p4 2.4ghz, 128mb, 40gb, dvd drive,
cdrw drive, modem, nic, keyboard, mouse, speakers, xp home, word perfect
delivered for just $269 after the $200 rebate. i am certain that i could
sell it for more on ebay if i wanted. just be sure that the person is able
and willing to transfer the ownership to you. you can check the ownership
by calling tech support if they give you the service tag and their
information... if you don't have the correct ownership information then tech
support will not talk to you about the computer. good luck.
