Does anyone here know of a PCI firewire only card (e.g. no NIC or USB 2.0

as
well), that provides an internal firewire connector for the front of a PC
case? I thought Belkin made one, but apparently not. They make a card,

but
not with a front connector on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just an FYI, a front connector isn't that useful. I have a normal rear
connector and just leave the cable connected to the PC and leave the camera
end in front of the box. If you =must= have a front connector, make sure
the card has an internal jack (most do) and buy a generic front mount kit.

Well, that is an idea I suppose. It's just I have the Antec Sonata case,
which provides USB and Firewire connections on the front under a wee door.
I can hook up the USB to the motherboard, which isn't a problem, but it
would be nice to hook up the firewire connection to *something*. Just
unfortunate the motherboard doesn't provide firewire as well.

But what you say is a good idea. Just leave the cable always connected. In
fact I could stick a clip to the wall and leave the cable clipped to the
wall until I need it. Still, it would be nice to have all the connectors on
front of the case, actually hooked up and working.

Thanks.

Some guy named Bob in the pc-homebuilt group posted a good solution for
Antec owners with your dilemma not too long ago that I myself took

advantage
of (I use the Antec SX630II w/front USB & firewire).

Antec has an adapter cable that connects to the pins at the front firewire
case port on one end and has a male jack at the other end to plug into the
internal port of a firewire PCI card (Newgg sells a couple firewire cards
with internal ports).

The bad news is you won't find the adapter cable on their website. The

good
news is you can get one for $5.99 + $3.80 S&H by calling Antec's sales

line
at 510-770-1200 x361 (or push option 4).

Thanks for the information, most useful.
