Default Direct X and ATI TV bug??

I recently upgraded from an ATI All-in-wonder Rage Pro to an Nvidia
FX5500 video card and the TV Wonder Pro.

(Win98, MCC 7.9, DirectX 9.0c, WME-8)

Long story short, I'm having the same problem with the new upgrades that
I had with the AIW. The TV stalls upon opening at UNPREDICTABLE times
and I having to re-boot to use the TV again.

One thing I noticed this time around is that when the TV stalls the
DxDiag shows that NONE of the DirectX display features are available!!!
i.e. Direct draw, Direct 3d, and agp texture. (Before any TV stall
these do show as functional.)

What's going on? Is this a Direct X problem. I heard that DX version
9.0b was buggy with ATI TV, but has this not been fixed in version 9.0c???

Any insights are greatly appreciated.
