Help disassembling 1800T display

I have a Compaq 1800T laptop whose hinges have failed. I located and
acquired a new set of hinges, but I have to open up the display unit
to attach them. I haven't been able to find anything on the web or
newsgroups, and it's not obvious how to approach the task.

I really don't want to just start prying - this is my main windows
system.

I know how to get the display off. Does anyone know how to open up
the display so I can get to the hinges?

I can't help you with disaddembly instructions, but I have the same hinge
problem on a 1700 series machine. May I ask where you found the hinges and
at what price?

Compaq wants more than $300 for them.
