New Build GigsByte GA-8I955X-Royal--Ideas??
Model Name : GA-8I955X-Royal -------------------------- M/B Rev : 1.1 BIOS Ver : f8 Serial No. : SN0543000024 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VGA Brand : GIGABYTE Model : 7800GT CPU Brand : Intel Model : 830 Speed : 3GHz Operation System : N/A SP : Memory Brand : Corsair Type : DDRII Memory Size : 2 x 512 Speed : 667 Power Supply : Aspire ATX-AS500W-BK System fails to fully boot or enter BIOS setup, (Get 1 beep which is normal I think). Will fully complete on screen Memory check OK finds 1Gb running in Dual mode, IDE scan finds drives, then crashes/hangs and I lose VGA sync and cannot even reset motherboard by case reset button! (Reset works OK if I reset within first 2 seconds prior to hang) GigaByte DPS blue LEDs illuminate one at a time and then all go out at point of hang. I have cleared CMOS and removed motherboard from chassis disconnecting all but VGA card. This is a new system build and therefore has never booted. No O/S is loaded on the machine. I have a 24 pin connector fitted to m/b, however I only have a 2x2 12V supply to the CPU. All literature suggests that only on a 840 and 845 CPU requires 2x4 12V..Is this correct... I have worked with Gigabytes boards week in and week out and this seems an uncommon failure, however it is the first Dual core system and so this hardware configuration is unproven! Has anyone run an 830D on this or any other board using just the 2x2 12v P4 supply? Any help would be appreciated! |

Just an update...I have tried to boot the system without the 2x2 12V
connected. This was just to see if there was any changes..There isn't..This really now leads me to susepct that the 2x12V supply is the problem..Will need to fit another PSU and test before returning the M/B or CPU!
