Default Canon LiDE 80

Does anyone have a problem with this scanner? The only way I can access it
is if I go to windows administrator I run XP Pro. If I try to use the
scanner on a normal start up there is no driver, any ideas? I have spoke to
the Canon support line and they assure me the scanner should work
fine......who are they kidding?

Thanks in advance for any help

Did you install the scanner for ALL users?

Do you have the latest drivers for your scanner. You must have XP compatible
drivers.

And have you given the user write permission to the folder(s) where the
scanner files are?

I don't have XP pro, but I think you have to setup a "Power User" and give
read and write permission to the scanner's files.

Alan,

I'm in exactly the same boat, same scanner, same operating system,
same problem. My scanner is seen in dvice manager & a test scan from
the properties box results in an OK message but the twain interface
will not open for this scanner.

I will say all the obvious things, you do have it connected directly
to a usb port on your computer, not a hub or anything like that. You
are using the supplied usb cable. It is properly inserted.

Now something I can tell you is that regarding permissions and users
etc, not that important. Just ensure you have administrator status
and that is all that is required. I wondered over to my wifes PC and
did another install as a user with administrator status (not "the
administrator") and it went like a dream! Scanner fired up,
recognised by all programs, scanned lovely.

So you tell me! I think you should keep plugging away at Canon. If
possible try to install on another machine just to see.
