Not to defend MD but they are not allowed to buy anything that will be
served as food from anyone other than their suppliers. Stupid but that
is the way it is. A friend of mine looked into opening one and that was
a BIG part of the contract. He decided it was just not worth it since
about the only thing he could have input on as far as the building or
location was how much extra land he wanted to buy. Not quite as bad as
Dunkin Doughnuts, they require you to open a second store within one
year of the finish of the first one.
