Default bad earth wire on Antec 900/1200 cases

I replaced the top fan on an Antec 900. The top clips on and is held by
2 small self-tapper screws. There is a black wire with a lug that goes
under one of these screws. I thought it would be a shield for the audio,
but it goes close to the USB sockets.
Now in the 900 series II (and all the 1200 series) Antec painted the
inside metal black, so there is no longer a good contact for this
wire, unless one happens to scrape the lug around a lot as you
screw it on.
