Default VAT and buying from jersey

i have found an online supplier in jersey for some things that i wish
to purchase. i am based in mainland UK. their site does not seem to
mention anything about vat. i was wondering, if i would be charged vat
after i receive the items, perhaps by customs?

Depends on the value - if the supplier can split the goods into
packages of value no more than 18GBP each then there is no VAT to pay.
7dayshop and play.com do this as a matter of course. If it's a consumer
site, as opposed to a b2b site, then the prices displayed should
include all applicable taxes.

I was just thinking how wonderful life was, when puck

IIRC, if the total value of the package is £18, no VAT is
chargeable. Your order may come in several packages, as do my inkjet
cartridges, to keep the package value down.
