Paperless Fax (semi-OT)?

Thinking that the most ecological use of a printer is to print the
least amount possible, I'm wondering about electronic fax options.
What programs/ strategies do you like for paperless fax? If you had a
business with two offices -- each one having a computer, how would you
set up paperless faxing? Mac and PC options appreciated.

faxing is mainly yesterdays technology and unecessarily 'clunky' if you
have internet access, because email (and sending documents attached to
them) just makes more sense.

I can't remember the last time I saw a fax machine being used (or it's
software eqivalent fax program).

I still use faxing at least a couple times a week.

A lot of companies (including banks) want faxes, do not offer public
email addresses, and do not want to be end document and graphic files
because of potential malware.

I just read your thoughtful, comprehensive blog entry *Death by 1000
Cuts.* Thanks. (I still have an HP 500 running -- on refilled
cartridges, of course.)

Companies I deal with insist on my communicating to them via fax. No
problem.

My office manager's office is off site, about 15 miles away from my
office. Companies mail statements to me; I then fax them to her. I'm
looking for a simple and quick way to send them as PDFs instead of
faxes. Possibly, with an all-in-one machine that has a sheet feeder,
I can scan the snail-mail to PDF, and then email. I use a Mac with OS
X, so converting any document in my computer to PDF is easy.

Thanks for your kind words. I hope to get back to my blog in the next
week or two for the next segments in my blog on printer technologies and
how to get around some of the waste. Just so many things to get done,
