Default Distorted Sound: Intel i845 onboard

My onboard sound (Intel i845) became distorted after i have inserted a VGA
TNT2 (AGP 4x 1.5v). My mobo is a Asus P4B with the last bios version (1012,
i hope). That problem happens on both WinXP and Linux, which points to a
hardware failure (i think). A fact that enforce my sugestion, is the
crash(freeze) happened at the moment that the sound was working very well. I
tried with others speakers and phones, and nothing changes. Is there any way
to solve that problem? Can i flash the firmware sound? If positive, where
can i get the image file to do this?

Thanks in advance.
